"Loving Leland Volume 4"
A photographic History by Erhardt Peters
Includes captioning and commentary by David Petersen

INFORMATION NEEDED ON THE LELAND FISHING FLEET: I have found a lot of information to go with the photos of the fishing fleet but would really like to get more of the facts about date of build, owner history etc for the boats that used the harbor at Leland from about 1925 to 1935.
Also more local information to go with the photos of Manitou Island, the Manitou and crib lighthouse, the lightship.
If you have any information or stories about the commercial fishing fleet please feel free to contact me. I have enough original material to put together 3 different books of photos taken by Erhardt Peters.
The photos for book one have been set but there are many more views including the burning and rebuilding of the Nicholas Hotel, Paving the Concrete Road, building the new Church in 1927, several hundred other additional views of Fishtown and much more. Loving Leland is in production, Reflections of Leland and Land of Delight are the tentative titles for the next 2 books.

Erhardt Peters was a very prolific photographer in the 1920's and 30's and left many views that until recently have been hidden away in boxes and albums. While many images were lost many still survive in private collections, and now in the Leland Museum. The Spirit of the Lakes Carferry pictorial history and the new book "Loving Leland" are my personal efforts to find and make as many of these rare images available to the public as possible.
